OMG! My kids wouldn't cooperate. I have no Christmas Card Pics!

Ok, so don't panic.... deep breath...  inhale in....... exhale out......  everything is ok.  Every Momma knows there are fussy babies that simply will not cooperate.  It happens!  Yup.... It happens to us all.  So what do you do?  Relax!  Your friends and family understand.  You are dealing with a baby/toddler.  This little human animal that has been the most precious being that has ever entered into your whole life.
.AWE.... Now all of a sudden, there's the monster that showed up on picture day!  What? Is? Going? On?

So When you have Lemons... Make LEMONADE!

When you get a picture that looks like this....

Ok first of all... This isn't fair.  This is the cutest thing ever!   She will never be this age again.  She will never make this unhappy face the same way again.  So... Here's your Christmas card: "Emma's so sad she will not see you this Christmas!"  or "Please Santa, don't miss my house!"

How about this one...

So here's the deal... baby's not happy. She wants her Momma.  2 yr old wants to play.  Momma is doing the best she can to make everyone happy! Christmas Card " There is comfort in chaos!   Our family wishes you the same happy chaos throughout the year!" or "Wishing this much happiness from our family to yours!"

Do you know our Jack?  oh boy... Our Jack... He's definitely our joy.  Here's a pic from one of our first Christmas cards........

The Caption for our Christmas Card....
"May your Holiday Season Be More Peaceful Than Ours!"

(unedited and taken by my bro-in-law)  lol.  :)"

Point is... No worries.  Your family and friends will love it!  No matter what!

Babies will do what babies will do..

Let's make some Lemonade!

Spring - What to Wear

Soon spring will come and as the flowers begin to bloom everyone will be wondering what they should be wearing for their spring photo session.

Just as I've preached before, gone are the days of all white shirts or all black shirts. Everyone has their own preference in clothing and what they would like to wear.

I always recommend comfort! Hanging out in a field full of flowers in dress slacks and high heels may not really be a very natural look. This is a lifestyle photography session folks! It should be a natural look. As if you were going to have a picnic on a spring afternoon. Below are some ideas I love to share with clients.

The key is to pick 3-4 colors and have everyone coordinate their clothing based on those colors.  Notice in this selection, you've got the subtle, muted creams, sage greens and a little blue.  Then magically, POP!  there's that beautiful pink!  Also notice Mom's outfit has the pink.  Yea, Mom needs to stand out a bit from everyone else.  :)

Below - In this next example....  I love the floral dress for the little girl.  I love the spring look of this collection.  Again... Choose 3-4 colors and stay within that color pallet.

Shoes are important.  Wear for comfort and also to be cute!  Below - This is a bit more of an early spring look.  You still have the sweaters, but you're working in the floral pattern which help to identify the changing of the seasons.

Below - Another awesome POP of color!  I love everything about this one.  Browns, Pink, and beautiful shades of blue.  And of course, the little girl in floral print.  It matches Mom's shirt AND Dad's shirt perfectly!

This selection goes more toward the blues, creams and purples.
It's just lovely!

Other Quick Tips........

Don't overdo it on the make up.  It should look natural.  Just as you would usually wear it.  No worries about blemishes.  If there is something you are worried about, let me know and I can touch it up in post-processing.

Make sure finger nails are clean and trimmed.

Guys, make sure you are shaved or beards are trimmed.

Go easy on the jewelry.  It's fine to wear jewelry, but remember that heavy, large necklaces will take away from your face.  The eyes and face should always be the main focus!  :)

Try to get your hair cut and/or colored a week or so before the shoot.  That way your hair has a chance to relax into the style by picture day!

I hope these tips will help you coordinate your clothing for our session.  If you have any questions, please let me know!

**** I didn't take the clothing photos, I do not own the rights to them.  I simply gathered them in one place to make it easy for my clients.  *****
